Orchid Daze: Towers of Flowers

This yearly event showcases exotic blooms at the Fuqua Orchid Center – the largest collection of species of orchids in the US. See towering columns and vertical walls covered with rare and colorful orchids. The Orchid Daze event will be held at the Atlanta Botanical Garden from February 6 to April 11, 2010.

Georgia on My Mind.  Black History Month

Bring your kids to the Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta and celebrate Black History Month by learning about Georgia’s renowned African-American artists, scientists, and sports heroes. Watch with your kids as stories that celebrate black history are brought to life by “Imaginators.” Let your kids discover music from the old days in Auburn Avenue, and learn about famous Georgian African-Americans through as they go through an interactive history lesson with the Treasure Chest of Georgia Heroes.

Princess Tiana’s Mardi Gras Jamboree

Your little girls will surely have fun at the Princess Tiana’s Mardi Gras Jamboree on February 13, 2010. The little princesses will be treated to a Cajun Cuisine catered from Popeyes which include chicken strip or chicken leg, beans & rice or macaroni & cheese, bisquit, Louisianna Swamp Punch, King Cake. The girls will also be treated to a etiquette lessons, games and crafts, raffle draws every two hours, and the best of all, Mardi Gras Parade and Princess Pampering.

Black History Month Parade

Travel to Altanta on February 27 and watch the biggest celebration of Black History Month in town. The Black History months features marching bands, celebrities and family activities. The parade starts at Ralph McGill and then down to Peachtree Street to Auburn Avenue where guests will be treated to live performances of several bands, guest appearances, professional athletes, television stars, comedians, civil rights icons and elected officials.
